Rosemary Margaret (Galvin) Etue passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, with family by her side. Throughout her life, Rosemary was devoted to her Catholic faith, family (immediate and extended), and friends, always providing unconditional love, support, guidance, and compassion. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 29 years, Robert (Bob) Etue. Together, they raised three wonderful sons, Paul, Dan, and Kevin, and cherished the time watching her boys play sports, start their careers, and raise their own families. Rosemary is survived by her three sons, Paul (Tara Wells) Etue, Dan (Erin) Etue, and Kevin Etue (Stacey) and is the cherished grandmother to “all my A’s”; Austin, Aubrey, Addison, Arielle, Aidan, Amelia, and Alayna.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 23, 1940, into a large Irish-Catholic family, Rosemary is the seventh of nine children to the late Dr. Paul Galvin and the late Veronica (Dillon) Galvin. Rosemary is also the loving sister-in-law to the late James (late Lois) Etue, the late Ann (late Jack) Carney, and the late Richard (late Kathy) Etue and loving Godmother, aunt, and great-aunt to many, many, many nieces, and nephews.

Rosemary was educated at Visitation Grade School, St. Mary Academy High School, Marygrove College, and Eastern Michigan University. In a teaching career that spanned nearly 40 years, Rosemary taught at several parochial schools, evening religious education classes, and 31 years of dedicated service for Livonia Public Schools as an elementary, middle, and special education teacher. She was active throughout her retirement years, serving on Marian High School’s Board of Directors, Archdiocese of Detroit parish committees, volunteering in her parish church and substitute teaching with Livonia Public Schools (an opportunity to visit former colleagues) and St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic School (an opportunity to spend time with her great nieces and nephews). Rosemary was an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) community in Monroe, MI, where she served as an associate and treasured friendships with the IHM Sisters.

Rosemary will be remembered for her deep and unwavering Catholic faith, commitment to her family, joy in being with her grandchildren, “drop-in” visits with family and friends, teaching our children, quick wit, and that beautiful smile that always said, “I love you.”
