Claudia Ann Miller, IHM Associate

Claudia Ann Miller, a devoted Director of Religious Education and cherished member of her community, passed away on March 24, 2026, in Clinton Township, Michigan. Born on Sept. 23, 1938, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Claudia’s life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her faith, family and the well-being of those around her.

Throughout her life, Claudia was affectionately known as “The Angel of Thumb,” a testament to her compassionate spirit and tireless service as a chaplain. She was deeply committed to supporting individuals and families during their most difficult moments, offering prayer and solace over their loved ones and performing funeral services with grace and dignity. Claudia, an honored associate of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), was not only fulfilling a calling but also a reflection of her profound love for others.

Known for her loving and caring nature, Claudia touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Those closest to her will fondly remember her as a beacon of kindness and strength, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand. Above all, her greatest joy and pride were her family. Summers spent in Harbor Beach were among her fondest memories, enjoying the warmth of family and friends. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Douglas James Miller, whose memory she cherished deeply.

Claudia is survived by her devoted children, Mark Douglas (Lorie) Miller, and her beloved grandchildren, Laura Miller, Douglas Miller, Edward Louis Knight Jr., along with her precious great-grandchildren, Vanessa Miller, Chase Cannon, Chanel Cannon and Edward Louis Knight III. Claudia also leaves behind her siblings, Kevin (Marjorie) Kidnie and Mary Ellen Kidnie, who shared in her journey and joys.

She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her late husband, Douglas James Miller, and her daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Monica Ann. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Richard James, Robert Gordon, and Allan Thomas.

Claudia Ann Miller’s legacy of faith, love, and service remains an enduring inspiration to all who knew her. Her compassionate heart and spiritual guidance have left a lasting impact on her community and family. As we honor her memory, we find comfort in the knowledge that her spirit lives on through the countless lives she touched and the family who will carry her love forward.
