Anne Harriman Spencer, age 87, of Royal Oak, passed away on March 22, 2023.
Loving mother of Joseph (the late Frances) Alvaro, Timothy Alvaro, Maria Alvaro, and Christina (John Ferry) Alvaro. Proud grandmother of Evan, Bennett, Ellen, Riley, Daniel, Mariah, and the late Caitlin.
Anne was a lifelong parishioner of Shrine of the Little Flower and a 1953 graduate of Shrine High School. She earned a B.A. in Education from Marygrove College and later a master’s degree from Wayne State University. She ultimately earned a PhD in hypnosis.
Anne taught for virtually her entire life, including a portion of her career teaching Montessori. She also started the preschool program at Shrine. Her students over the years included everyone from two-year-olds to those in their sixties and seventies. In her free time, Anne was an avid gardener as well as being an excellent baker. She also enjoyed trips to the symphony and theater.
