Written by Rosalita Kelly, IHM, this book offers a comprehensive history of the IHM congregation’s first 100 years.
It was originally intended to commemorate the centenary of the congregation’s founding and was for the IHM Sisters themselves. As Sister Rosalita noted in her preface, “…a great majority of the Sisters now living are not conversant with the efforts and struggle that went into the building of the Congregation of which they are members.”
She also cited the IHM congregation’s “great work…the very purpose of its establishment…the education of youth” as another important reason to research and write No Greater Service. As a result of the founding ministry of education, the history of the congregation “should add one more chapter to the glorious record of Catholic education in the United States, and as such, should be of service to students in the field of education.”
