Giving Societies

Our giving societies are named after IHM co founders, Rev. Louis Florent Gillet and Mother Theresa Maxis, as well as the congregation’s patron saints and spiritual guides, St. Teresa of Avila and St. Alphonsus Liguori.

We are pleased to symbolize each giving society, as well as the Future of Hope Legacy Society and A New Century of Service Capital Campaign, with icons written by icon artist, Nancy Lee Smith, IHM. These societies were established to recognize, with gratitude, the benefactos who have supported our congregation throughout their lifetimes.

The Louis Gillet Society was named for Rev. Louis Florent Gillet, redemptorist priest and co-founder of the Sister, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. His passion for God and his desire to give himself fully to the liberating mission of Jessus are reflected  in the impelling fire that radiated out from his spirit. The IHM community is grateful to those benefactors who exemplify the spirit of Louis Gillet for whom no sacrifice was too great. Special recognition is commemorated in the following gift levels: $1,000,000 or more, $500,000-$999,999 and $100,000-$499,999.

The Theresa Maxis Society was named for Mother Theresa Maxis, co-founder of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Her passion for religious life, courage and trust in Divine Providence serve as inspiration for all IHM Sisters. Her ineffable beauty was manifested by her fidelity to the original fire of grace she held tenaciously for the IHM congregation. We are grateful to those who have given $40,000 – $99,999. These donors exemplify Therea’s whole-hearted commitment to mission.

The Teresa of Avila Society was named for St. Teresa of Avila, mystic, reformer, Doctor of the Church and patron saint of the IHM Sisters. Her inner flame, received from the Holy Spirit, inspired her powerful writings about prayer and spiritual wisdom. The IHM community is grateful to those benefactors who have given $25,000 – $39,999. They exemplify St. Teresa’s belief that much can be done in life if one has the courage to attempt great things.

The Alphonsus Liguori Society was named after St. Alphonsus Liguori, founder of the Redemptorists, moral theologian and friend of the poor and abandoned. St. Alphonsus is also a patron saint of the IHM Sisters. The flame of the Spirit hovering above his head symbolizes his sense of being anointed to bring glad tidings to the poor. The IHM community is grateful to those benefactors who have given $10,000 – $24,999. They exemplify the spirit of St. Alphonsus who believed that each of us is called in love to give ourselves freely and generously to God and others.

We are also pleased to offer our Future of Hope Society, which recognizes those who have included the IHM community in their estate plans. By passing on a precious part of their life’s legacy, they have made a significant contribution to the future care and ministries of the IHM Sisters. Their commitment to support the life and mission of the IHM community beyond their own lifetimes truly demonstrates that love never comes to an end.
