Bioneers was founded in 1990 as a nonprofit organization that promotes practical environmental solutions and social strategies for restoring the Earth and communities. Each year, the national Bioneers conference on the West Coast draws a network of more than 3,000 people to build a sustainable future for the entire web of life.
Along with the national conference, regional sites host Bioneer conference that link by satellite to the national conference in San Rafael, Calif. The regional sites broadcast live portions of the national Bioneers Conference, while also serving as a means for community organization around local issues.
Since 2005, Detroit has been one of those regional sites.
The Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit conference highlights the power and richness of Detroit’s diversity and explores topics relevant to current urban issues. It facilitates networking among the local groups already working on sustainable and transformative ideas, and helps make that information accessible to all.
Additionally, Great Lakes Bioneers Detroit promotes collaboration and networking among southeast Michigan individuals and organizations working on sustainability and eco-justice issues.
