On October 2, 2006, the worst school shooting in Pennsylvania history took place at a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Nickel Mines. Ten girls were shot, and six were killed. The nation was captivated by the Amish community’s response: in a world often drawn to revenge, they chose forgiveness.
This program explores that response, which lies at the heart of Amish spirituality and is rooted in the teachings of Jesus. Along with the speaker’s presentation, the morning will include the film Amish Grace, reflection, and discussion.
