Join the IHM Sisters and the Adrian Dominican Sisters for a Season of Creation gathering centered on water, our shared responsibility to care for creation and our call to peace and healing. The Cleansing of the Water Prayer Ritual will bring together prayer, music, Indigenous wisdom and reflection as we honor water as a sacred gift and renew our commitment to protecting it.
The gathering will include a smudging ceremony, welcome from both congregations, reflections from the River Raisin Institute, the song Water Is Life by Sara Thomsen, words about the water from Rose Johnson, and a prayer in Lakota led by Joe Braveheart. Sister Dusty and Rose Johnson will lead the Peace Prayer and Cleansing of the Water Ritual.
The event will conclude with words from Sister Corinne Sanders, OP, followed by refreshments inside the Motherhouse. All are welcome to join us as we gather in gratitude for water, pray for the healing of our waterways and recommit ourselves to caring for our common home. All our welcome.
