Jane Aseltyne, IHM, professes final vows

Sister Jane Aseltyne, IHM, originally from Chelsea, Michigan, celebrated her final vows with the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Saturday evening, Aug. 3, 2024. The ceremony took place during an Eucharistic Liturgy in the Motherhouse Chapel. Many family members, friends, and colleagues traveled to Monroe for the event.

Sister Jane attended Western Michigan University and earned a bachelor’s degree in communication. Prior to her profession, she served as communications manager at A Nun’s Life Ministry. In addition to her love of online ministry, she is committed to serving marginalized populations. In the past, she dedicated her energies to working with disenfranchised populations, including the youth and the elderly.  Sister Jane earned a master’s degree in systematic theology and spirituality at Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago. “Working in various ministries has given me the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life. My worldview and understanding of justice have grown and deepened because of the people with whom I have worked and served. “

Sister Jane currently serves at Bethany House of Hospitality in Chicago, teaching English as a second language. In late August, she will begin a part-time position as a Program Assistant with the Religious Formation Conference (RFC), where she will support the Conference’s administrative and programming endeavors. Sister Jane also plans to pursue a Ph.D. in systematic theology in an effort to bring different voices to the field of theology, namely those of the LGBTQIA+ community.
