Detroit Youth Choir concert

In celebration of 175 years

Sept. 12, 2021

The Detroit Youth Choir concert concluded an extended year of events celebrating the founding of the IHM in Monroe. The concert was held on Sunday, Sept. 12 at St. Mary’s Park, the site where Sister Theresa Maxis Duchemmin established the congregation in a log cabin in 1845. Everyone in attendance enjoyed the talented, spirited group that performed various songs of different genres.

Many thanks to everyone who helped make the concert a success: La-Z-Boy, Inc. for their generous sponsorship that made the event possible; St. Mary Catholic Central parent committee for providing lunches; Author Patricia Montemurri who was in attendance autographing her Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters of Michigan book; Mayor Bob Clark who gave a proclamation honoring the IHM; and the people of Monroe and the surrounding communities for being a receptive and enthusiastic crowd. A good time was had by all!
