Margaret Alandt, IHM

Mission Councilor


Sister Margaret spent nearly 20 years ministering as a financial officer for nonprofit organizations in Detroit and an additional eight years in the General Business Office of the IHM congregation. She has served as a pastoral minister, teacher and social justice advocate in Detroit, North Carolina and Brazil.

For the last two years, the focus of her work has been as a guardian for Compassionate Companions, the umbrella organization for the IHM guardianship program serving clients in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Monroe Counties.

Sister Margaret earned her bachelor’s degree in history from Marygrove College in Detroit and a Master of Science in Institutional Administration from the University Notre Dame. Born in Flushing, N.Y., she graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Roseville, Mich.
