Visitation North – Roses in December: The American Martyrs of El Salvador
Saturday, March 25
9:30 am - 12:30 pm
“Roses in December: The American Martyrs of El Salvador” is facilitated by Kathie Budesky, IHM, MA. In many ways, Maura Clarke, Ita Ford, Dorothy Kazel and Jean Donovan were typical of many young American Catholic women raised in the post-World War II era. Unlike others, their response to the teachings of Jesus led them not only to serve the poor in Latin America, but to their martyrdom. This look at their life stories will include presentations, the award-winning documentary, Roses in December, and an exploration of their writings.
This is the first of three presentations in the “Great Women Series.” Others include “Coretta Scott King: A Woman of Grace” (April 8, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and “Mary Magdalene: History and Tradition” (April 22, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.).
Suggested offering is $25. Contact Visitation North at 248-433-0950 or firstname.lastname@example.org to register. Please note that Visitation North is not handicapped-accessible.
