Sunday, September 18
5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Sept. 18 through Oct. 31, 2022, the featured exhibit in the IHM Gallery will be “Touching the Divine: Landscapes, Icons and More,” the artwork of Nancy Lee Smith, IHM. Nature’s beauty is a window to find peace; in fact, beauty in any form brings us such. Another window is an icon, allowing us to see and be seen through the eyes of love. This exhibit, encompassing the past 29 years of Sister Nancy’s artwork, invites you to explore what moves you to that inner place of quiet.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, where she actually received her call to the IHMs in front of an icon, Sister Nancy Lee began writing icons full-time in 1995. She studied under Kseenia Pokrovsky and Vladislav Andrejev before teaching icon writing herself. Sr. Nancy gives retreats and presentations on the spirituality of icons as used in prayer. Her installations are in Europe and the Americas and in various parts of the United States. She had been a teacher, retreat director, pastoral coordinator of a parish without a priest, hospital and hospice chaplain. She has a BA in English and Theology, a BFA in metal sculpture, a Master of Divinity from St. John Seminary, as well as formal training in spiritual direction.
The exhibit is free and open to the public by appointment only (please give 48 hours’ notice). Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. For more information about the exhibit and admission, contact Emilie Connor at firstname.lastname@example.org.
