Celebrating IHM Associate Commitment of Elizabeth Lyons Hudson


IHM Sisters welcome new associate

On Saturday, April 29, Elizabeth Lyons Hudson of Humberston, United Kingdom celebrated her commitment as an IHM Associate with the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM). She was presented by Kathy Grosh, IHM and accepted by Pat McCluskey, IHM, Associate Liaison on behalf of the Leadership Council. The ceremony took place in the Leadership Council offices in the IHM Motherhouse.

Originally from Akron, Ohio, Hudson holds a BA from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan She taught in both the USA and the UK. More recently, she served as a local preacher in the Methodist Church. Elizabeth was a vowed member of IHM for nine years in the 1970s. She has always loved the community and is delighted to reconnect by way of Zoom and live stream as well as in person when she is in the U.S. She commits to living the IHM mission in her current place of life and ministry.

 Associates are women and men of different ages, backgrounds and faith traditions who are attracted to the vision and values of the IHMs. Associates maintain their own homes, families and lifestyles. After a period of discernment and orientation, they enter into a formal covenant with the community for a specific, renewable period of time, focusing on prayer, community and ministry. The first IHM Associate was accepted in 1977.
