Celebrating 106 years!

Five generations of Sister Charlotte Walby’s family gather to sing her Happy Birthday on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at her home, the IHM Senior Living Community

On June 21 of this year, Sister Charlotte (Coletta) Walby became the oldest living IHM (105 years), surpassing Sister Marie Dorothy Eagan. On September 7, she became the longest-serving IHM ever- 88 years and 23 days, a distinction that had been previously held by Sister Rose Xavier Dunn since 2014.

This week, on Tuesday, December 6, Sister Charlotte celebrated her 106 birthday with her family and sisters in community. For the final topping on her birthday party, Sister Anne delivered her favorite, a milkshake from Independent Dairy. Enjoy the pictures from her family celebration.

Charlotte’s niece and goddaughter, Edie (Walby) Pollauf, reminisce over a photo taken 5 years ago of them celebrating her 101 Birthday.
Edie’s sons, Greg and George (Tony) joined the celebration.
Sister Charlotte meets for the first time, her great-great grandniece, Liberty (age four months).
Charlotte enjoyed a conference video call filled with Birthday wishes. Family from North Carolina, California and Indiana who were unable to attend in person were represented.
Five generations were in attendance to celebrate. From top left: George (Tony) Pollauf is the middle son of Edie; Edie (Walby Poffauf) who will turn 91 in a few weeks; Greg Pollauff, Edie’s eldest son; Kellie (Tony’s daughter); Kellie’s daughter, Liberty, age 4 months.
