On Sunday, April 30, at 3 p.m., Sounds of Joy Community Singers will perform. Sounds of Joy is a faith-based choir. The group is an outreach effort to share the message of Christ through song throughout the Monroe community … and beyond. Directed by Tim Taylor, it provides an outlet for people 50+ to raise their voices in praise and thanksgiving.
The season concludes on Friday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m. with the John Tyner Chorale, the preeminent vocal ensemble in Monroe. The group has developed a reputation for a high level of musical presentations of a cappella music from all historical periods. After more than a decade of singing, the chorale has distinguished itself with tremendous artistic growth, expanding audiences and increasing in regional recognition for choral excellence. The group’s repertoire ranges from early madrigals to modern day masterpieces. The Chorale will present an evening of music surrounding the theme of illumination.
